What is the Shout Prayer Mentor Initiative?

Shout PMI is a national effort to cover local church students, middle-school through college, with at least one, but preferably two or three caring local church adults who will commit to lift a prayer-shout for their particular students every day until they graduate from college or are married.

How Prayer Mentoring Works?

Shout PMI is for churches who believe in the power of prayer and who, at the very least, would like to get more organized in an effort to pray for their students. This strategy may not be for every church. However, it is working in many different types of churches regardless of size, income levels, worship styles, and denominational affiliations. The common denominator for success seems to be the pastor’s enthusiastic support.

Just as Compassion International raises up sponsors for needy children in other countries, Shout PMI will help raise up prayer sponsors for your own church youth. Your kids may not lack basic physical necessities. What many do lack is basic spiritual protection, spiritual protection that only praying adults can give to them. They need help to be strong enough to fight against a deliberate, determined, daily onslaught from the Evil One.

Shout PMI is based upon Joshua 6:20:

How Can We Bring Shout PMI to Our Church?

There is a 5-Step Certification Process involved in preparing your church to participate in The Shout Prayer Mentor Initiative. The certification process is about equipping you for prayer mentoring success. We are interested in partnering with churches who are serious about following through with their prayer mentoring program. The 5-Step Certification Process is discussed in more detail in the Shout PMI Manual. Below is an overview.

Step One—The Starter Pack.

The Starter Pack includes everything you’ll need for a good grasp of the concepts involved in Shout PMI: Shout’s Prayer Dare book, The Shout PMI Manual as well as samples of the bi-monthly prayer mentor mail out, student picture prayer card packet, various promotional pieces and a training clinic application.

If, after reading the book and manual, you’re ready to discuss the possibility of our team training your team, next is the application step.

Step Two—Training Application.

Fax or email the training clinic application (contained in your Shout PMI Starter Pack) to us. As soon as we receive your application, we'll contact you to discuss the best possible training opportunity for you.

Step Three—Training Clinic.

All Shout churches are required to go through our four to six hour training clinic. By the end of the training, your team will feel confident in moving forward with your Shout Prayer Mentoring ministry! Guaranteed!

Now you are ready for...

Step Four—The Commitment.

At this point we ask you to make the 4 x 4 Prayer Mentoring Commitment. The commitment is talked about in Shout’s Prayer Dare (the book).

Once you have made the commitment, you are now ready to... 1) Purchase your Complete Shout Sunday Kit at a cost of $99 plus shipping. 2) Be assigned a personal representative from the Shout PMI team who will walk with you all the way through your Shout Sunday and a few weeks after.

Step Five—The Timeline.

Your personal rep will be there to guide you in setting your Shout Sunday date, and in organizing your picture taking and data gathering sessions, your church’s unique promotional plan as well as your follow-up strategy. It is not our desire to interfere but to assist. We’re going to be there for you anytime you have a question throughout the process!

As soon as you have booked your Shout Sunday, you are officially certified as a Shout PMI church. At that point your church’s space on www.shoutpmi.org will be activated for your use for one year.

The only cost to your church after certification is an annual website membership fee of $30.

What Comes After Certification?

Once your church has been certified, you can choose a Shout Sunday option.

Option One: You bring in our team of two to help you conduct your Shout Sunday. Cost is traveling expenses and a $300 honorarium.

Our team of two will help lead your Shout Sunday prayer mentor recruitment service and register prayer mentors.

Option Two: You do your own Shout Sunday without our team. Our resources, together with an appeal from your pastor, will have amazing impact!

Honestly, you don’t need our team to host a successful Shout Sunday, just a heart that burns to cover students in powerful prayer and a team who has been through the certification process.
